Physical Chemistry III is the third and final instalment of the Physical Chemistry sequence taught in the Department of Chemistry in NTU. The focus of this one-semester course is on reaction kinetics and statistical mechanics useful for describing time-dependent chemical changes. Both macroscopic theory of reaction kinetics and microscopic theory of reaction rates will be covered, with introduction to basic statistical thermodynamics and examples and selected special topics relevant in solving real-world problems. Students should be familiar with content of Physical Chemistry I (Chemical Thermodynamics) and Physical Chemistry II (Quantum Chemistry).
